Our place

Three generations, one kitchen

The Village Table is a family-run restaurant and café where the food is cooked the way it has been at home for three generations — generous plates, familiar flavours, and a table you are welcome to sit at for as long as you like. Coffee and pastries in the morning through to a proper dinner, and a Sunday lunch worth staying for.

Nothing here is complicated. The bread is cut thick, the portions are honest, and if you want to sit over a coffee for an hour after you have eaten, that is rather the point.

Common questions

Parking, dietary requirements, big tables, dogs — the things people usually ask before they book.

See all questions
Do I need to book a table?

For a weekday lunch you can usually walk in. Friday and Saturday evenings and all of Sunday get busy, so booking is a good idea — Sunday lunch in particular tends to fill up early in the week. You can call, message on WhatsApp, or send a reservation request through this site.

Is there parking nearby?

There is free on-street parking around the square, which is usually fine outside peak times. On Sunday, and on Friday and Saturday evenings, it is worth arriving a few minutes early or parking a street or two back and walking in.

Can you cater for dietary requirements and allergies?

Yes. There are vegetarian options on every menu, and a number of dishes can be adjusted for gluten or dairy. Please tell us when you book rather than on the night, and always mention allergies directly to your server so the kitchen is told.

Can you take large groups?

Yes. The back room seats a larger party on its own, and for bigger occasions the whole place can be taken outside normal hours. Get in touch with rough numbers and a date and the rest gets worked out with you.
